Congress needs to create a civil cause of action that lets people harmed by this administration's unconstitutional actions sue the policymakers responsible. Miller, Homan, and others aren't operating in a legal gray area. They are knowingly violating the Constitutional rights of undocumented immigrants, legal residents, and U.S. citizens under existing law, every single day. Trump has promised blanket pardons for criminal liability, and the Supreme Court has made it nearly impossible to sue federal officials. That leaves victims with no remedy at all. This isn't about creating new crimes. The conduct is already illegal. What's missing is accountability. Republicans in Congress have abdicated their oversight duty entirely while this administration kills people in Memphis, terrorizes families in Chicago and Los Angeles, and strips legal residents of their rights. You have the power to close that gap. Create the remedy. Make it retroactive. And include punitive damages, because nothing short of real financial consequences will deter the most powerful government in the world from doing this again.
