The Justice Department’s reported effort to block certification of Alaska’s Senate election results if a Republican loses should alarm every American. Elections are decided by voters, not federal officials seeking to override an unfavorable outcome.
This is an extraordinary abuse of government power and a dangerous threat to our constitutional democracy. We cannot normalize such authoritarian tactics or wait until the damage is irreversible.
Our elected officials must act immediately, demanding that the Justice Department abandon this effort and publicly justify its actions. Congress must draw a clear line: partisan interference in election certification will not be tolerated.
This is unprecedented and potentially the beginning of a coup. Democracy demands an unequivocal response—now.
