"I am a Democratic voter and a constituent writing in outrage over the Trump administration’s handling of the fatal ICE shooting of an innocent U.S. citizen in Minnesota. The loss of life is tragic. The administration’s response—through the Department of Justice and federal agencies refusing to cooperate with Minnesota’s investigation—is indefensible.
When federal law enforcement kills a civilian and then blocks state authorities from fully investigating, it violates basic principles of accountability and the rule of law. No agency should be permitted to shield its own actions from transparent, independent review. This behavior is incompatible with constitutional governance and erodes public trust at a moment when restraint and openness are urgently needed.
This is not about partisan point-scoring. It is about civil liberties, due process, and whether government power is constrained by law. I expect you to publicly demand full cooperation with Minnesota officials, meaningful congressional oversight, and enforceable limits on ICE’s use of force.
Voters like me are paying close attention. How Democratic leaders respond to this crisis will factor heavily into my support in November and beyond. Failure to act decisively will be taken as acquiescence to federal overreach and the normalization of impunity.
I expect a clear public stance and concrete action."
