This proposed legislation fails to uphold the principles of human rights and public safety. Depriving sanctuary jurisdictions of Small Business Administration offices will undermine trust between immigrant communities and law enforcement. It will drive vulnerable populations further into the shadows, making them more susceptible to exploitation and abuse. Rather than foster an environment of fear, we should pursue inclusive policies that protect all residents regardless of immigration status. Promoting cooperation between local agencies and federal immigration authorities ultimately harms public safety by discouraging crime reporting and witness participation. I urge you to reject this counterproductive measure that scapegoats immigrants and jeopardizes the wellbeing of our communities. Comprehensive immigration reform focused on human dignity represents a more constructive path forward.
