The Heritage Foundation just published a report calling for the dismantling of Title IX's proportionality requirements — the core protections that guarantee women equal athletic opportunities in federally funded schools. You need to defend Title IX and publicly oppose any effort by the Trump administration to implement these recommendations. Project 2025 is already more than 50% implemented. This is not a hypothetical threat. The report, authored by Boise State professor Scott Yenor, proposes replacing competitive women's sports with yoga and hiking clubs — activities that carry no scholarships and no prestige. Yenor frames competitive athletics as a threat to women's "fertility" and calls Title IX "a powerful engine of feminist social engineering." Shiwali Patel of the National Women's Law Center is right: low female sports participation before Title IX wasn't about lack of interest. It was lack of opportunity.
