Meanwhile, Secretary Rubio has pledged to dismantle the ICC "brick by brick," and a Republican operative close to the White House admitted the fear is that future administrations could face prosecution for exactly these kinds of actions. Rodrigo Duterte is sitting in The Hague right now for doing what this administration is doing. The Pentagon inspector general has already found that cuts to civilian-harm protection staff may have violated U.S. law. Congress has the power to subpoena, investigate, and cut funding. Use it. The American people deserve to know whether their military is committing crimes in their name — and whether officials are dismantling international institutions specifically to escape consequences for those crimes.
