Require ICE Agents to Operate Unmasked and Accountable

To: Rep. Huizenga, Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters

July 22

Support unmasking requirements for ICE agents and oppose Senator Blackburn's Protecting Law Enforcement from Doxxing Act. The Trump administration is suing six jurisdictions to keep federal agents masked while labeling basic public accountability as "doxxing." That word is being stretched beyond recognition. Naming a public official exercising government power is not doxxing. It is democracy. The DOJ's complaints cite ICE List and ICESpy as facial recognition threats, yet when Wired pressed them for a single concrete example of anyone using either site to identify an agent, they produced nothing. ICESpy is a dormant 2018 art project that drew 84 page views in a week. ICE List draws overwhelmingly from information agents posted about themselves on LinkedIn. Meanwhile, ICE officers shot and killed two men in Maine and Texas without the body cameras Congress mandated, and the government withheld evidence from investigators for nearly half a year. Read the full breakdown here: https://crustnews.com/to-defend-ice-masks-the-trump-regime-needed-a-villain-it-chose-us/ Masks don't protect officers from danger — they protect them from accountability. Blackburn's bill would effectively make it a federal crime to report on federal law enforcement. Reject the administration's attempt to place federal agents beyond public scrutiny and stand for the transparency that democratic oversight requires.
