Stop sending people to concentration camps

To: Rep. Wied, Sen. Baldwin, Sen. Johnson, Pres. Trump

From: A constituent in Appleton, WI

April 18

It seems that President Trump is planning to send another group of people to CECOT. I can’t stress enough how greatly I oppose this. First, newly revealed intelligence dismisses the notion that Venezuela is sending Tren de Aragua members into the U.S., which was the justification for the Alien Enemies Act. Second, I have no confidence that this administration has actually gone through due process to justify condemning these men. I’m reading about one likely victim, Y.S.M., a teenager who was detained and accused of gang membership after seeing a Facebook photo of him holding a water pistol. This reminds me of Merwil Gutierrez, who was condemned in the first round of imprisonment despite having no gang ties whatsoever. Third, as a general rule, I oppose the condemnation of people into this concentration camp in El Salvador. It is fundamentally unjust and inhumane. Considering that Trump is already actively looking to begin sending citizens to this kind of concentration camp, it is even more imperative that you put a stop to this.
