Investigate Trump's Interference in the Israeli Election and Cut Support for Netanyahu

To: Sen. Cruz, Rep. Casar, Sen. Cornyn

From: A constituent in Manor, TX

October 19

Investigate Trump's use of presidential influence to interfere in a foreign election and oppose any further U.S. backing of Benjamin Netanyahu's government. The October 27 Israeli election is days away, and Trump's last-minute endorsement is not just political meddling. It is a signal that American military and diplomatic power will be conditioned on who wins a foreign vote. Trump said plainly that if Netanyahu loses, "America will have to do this work ourselves, and I am not inclined to do so." That is a sitting president threatening to withhold national security commitments based on a foreign election outcome. That is an abuse of power, and it demands a congressional response. Netanyahu faces active corruption charges, and the International Criminal Court has issued a warrant for his arrest on war crimes charges. Trump already sent a letter to Israeli President Isaac Herzog asking him to pardon Netanyahu on those charges. Congress must investigate this interference, cut off the blank check, and make clear that American foreign policy does not exist to shield an ICC-indicted leader from justice while his military campaign has killed tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians.
