Our national safety depends upon real-time, accurate weather predictions. As you surely know, it's been particularly critical in Northern Alabama to have NOAA weather forecasting. As we move into spring--traditionally a dangerous season for tornadoes--the issue of good weather forecasting becomes urgent. Yet apparently an unelected South African billionaire and his team of tech bros has begun canceling leases on critical infrastructure for NOAA, as well as firing essential personnel. The minor amounts of savings in doing such a thing cannot begin to balance the real cost in lives and property. It is essential that critical government functions such as NOAA be supported. I urge you to protect weather forecasting by protecting NOAA. The Musk team is taking away your authority to legislate and to authorize spending. Put a stop to it NOW before irreparable damage is done to our country's weather forecasting systems.
