Repeal the "Hague Invasion Act" and Restore U.S. Commitment to International Law

To: Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters

From: A constituent in Beulah, MI

May 19

Dear Members of Congress, I am writing to demand the immediate repeal of the American Service-Members' Protection Act (22 U.S.C. 7421 et seq.), commonly known as the "Hague Invasion Act." This statute, which authorizes "all means necessary" to release personnel detained by the International Criminal Court (ICC), is a dangerous overreach that undermines global justice, violates the spirit of accountability, and threatens international stability. True security relies on a commitment to justice and human rights. Authorizing military action against a legal body in The Hague signals to the world that the United States considers itself entirely above the laws governing crimes against humanity and war crimes. Defending the U.S. Constitution requires upholding our moral integrity, not shielding potential human rights violations from international oversight. Breaking international laws repeatedly and threatening those who seek to enforce them carries dire consequences. It isolates our nation, erodes our global credibility, and weakens the universal framework designed to protect innocent lives worldwide. Accountability is an absolute must—no single nation or individual should be immune to the laws of humanity. I urge you to take a stand for true justice, co-sponsor legislation to repeal this dangerous statute, and ensure that the United States cooperates with international efforts to prosecute crimes against humanity.
