This is another reminder that your continued support for Russell Vought and this administration is a betrayal of the people you were elected to represent.
The latest reports that the administration is moving to tighten White House control over federal agency staffing should concern every American who believes in a professional, nonpartisan civil service. Career federal employees are hired to faithfully execute the law and serve the public, not to serve the political interests of any president or political party. Expanding political control over hiring and staffing decisions threatens the independence and integrity of our government and weakens the institutions Americans rely on every day.
Russell Vought has repeatedly advanced policies that concentrate power in the executive branch while undermining long established civil service protections. That approach does not create a more effective government. It creates a government where political loyalty is valued above competence, experience, and the rule of law.
Your silence and support make you complicit in these actions. Instead of defending the Constitution and protecting the independence of our federal institutions, you continue to enable an administration that has shown contempt for oversight, accountability, and the public servants who keep this country functioning.
The American people deserve representatives who will stand up to abuses of power, regardless of which party occupies the White House. Unfortunately, you have chosen the opposite path.
I will continue to remind you every week that your loyalty should be to your constituents and to the Constitution, not to Russell Vought or this administration. Voters are paying attention, and they will remember who stood by while our democratic institutions were weakened.
You still have the opportunity to put country before politics. If you refuse, you should not expect voters to reward that decision at the ballot box.
