Invoke the War Powers Act

To: Sen. Tuberville, Rep. Strong, Sen. Britt

From: A verified voter in Huntsville, AL

June 3

I urge you in the strongest terms to invoke the War Powers Act with regard to current hostilities with Iran. The executive department's claims that a ceasefire stops the clock on the War Powers Act are increasingly irrelevant, regardless of whether they are valid (I believe not). A blockade is an act of war. Recently the US and Iran have traded attacks. We are clearly still subject to the War Powers Act. Congress must use its Constitutional power rather than unconstitutionally cede it to the executive. Please show your constituents that you understand civics and that the Constitution is more important than politics or the fear of an authoritarian leader.
