I urge you to support Senator Shaheen’s bill that would stop government insiders from using public office to boost their private businesses. Right now, Elon Musk is advising the Trump administration while still owning major stakes in SpaceX, Starlink, and Tesla—all companies that have received billions in federal contracts. That’s a clear conflict of interest (The Guardian, April 2025). This bill is simple and necessary: if someone owns more than 5% of a company, they shouldn’t be helping direct federal money to it. Americans deserve to know that public service is about serving the country—not making billionaires richer. I urge you to pass this bill now to restore trust and stop corruption before it gets worse.
