Stop Election Denier Heather Honey from Overseeing Election Security
To: Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Casar
From: A verified voter in Austin, TX
August 27
Heather Honey’s appointment to oversee election security at DHS is dangerous. She has a history of spreading false claims about the 2020 election and participating in partisan “audits” that experts said undermined public trust. Giving her this responsibility threatens democracy itself.
Election security experts, including those at the Brennan Center for Justice, warn that misinformation does more to erode confidence in elections than foreign interference. By elevating someone who denies facts, we risk replacing nonpartisan security with partisan control. Qualified experts are being sidelined while public trust is destroyed.
Congress must act. Speak out against this appointment. Pass legislation requiring DHS election security leadership to be nonpartisan professionals with real expertise in cybersecurity and election law. Americans deserve free and fair elections protected by truth, not conspiracy.
