End the Military Deployment in Washington, D.C.

August 10

End the military deployment in Washington, D.C. — now. Trump called up the National Guard a year ago to address what he called "an epidemic of crime" in the capital. That was a lie then and it's a lie now. There is no mission, no endpoint, and no justification. A federal district court judge already ruled the deployment is likely illegal, yet it continues while litigation crawls through the D.C. Circuit. Read the full breakdown here: https://www.lawdork.com/p/one-year-in-trump-dc-troop-deployment Congress has the power to stop this and has done nothing. Meanwhile, the federal government just awarded a nearly $300 million contract to house troops in D.C. apartments through 2029. Children and adults in this city have spent a year living under military patrol for no reason other than political intimidation. The Declaration of Independence — the document those troops are now wearing patches to celebrate — explicitly condemned King George III for keeping standing armies among civilians in times of peace without legislative consent. That's exactly what's happening here. Do your job and end it.
