Reject NORRA 2025, preserve judicial authority and constitutional balance

To: Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters, Rep. Dingell

From: A constituent in Saline, MI

April 16

I strongly oppose the proposed NORRA of 2025 that would severely restrict the ability of federal district courts to issue injunctive relief. This bill represents an alarming attack on judicial authority and a violation of the constitutional separation of powers. Injunctive relief serves as a crucial check on executive overreach, protecting the rights of individuals and states from unlawful government actions. Stripping district courts of this power would gut their ability to provide timely remedies and safeguard constitutional rights when facing harmful policies from the executive branch. The bill's narrow exception for multi-state challenges funneled through randomly selected three-judge panels is wholly inadequate. This convoluted process would create unacceptable delays, jeopardizing justice. The judiciary must retain the authority to issue temporary injunctions swiftly when justified to prevent irreparable harm while cases are pending. Unchecked executive power threatens liberty and the rule of law. I urge steadfast opposition to this dangerous legislation that would corrupt the vital system of checks and balances at the core of American democracy. Protecting robust judicial review is essential for preserving our nation's founding principles.
