I am writing to urge that the United States cease incursions on sovereign ships and sovereign soil without Congressional approval. I understand that Maduro was not the legally-elected leader of Venezuela, and it may benefit the Venezuelan people to be able to have a new election to ensure that they are being served by a leader who has been rightfully elected. However, it now seems that the Executive Branch of the U.S. Government has only been intervening in Venezuela in order to seize control of their oil and other assets, and to temporarily install themselves as the government. These actions, as well as the bombings of ships in the Caribbean, have been taking place illegally without Congressional approval. Further, they contravene numerous international treaties and endanger our standing internationally. I fear global repercussions for our country if we act in a way that threatens the sovereignty of other nations.
I urge the Executive Branch of the U.S. government to stop these illegal incursions without the authorization of Congress. And to my elected officials in Congress, you must stop these actions immediately or impeach the officials who are taking illegal and dangerous actions.
