Demand Corporate Investment in Local Infrastructure and Services

To: Sen. Peters, Rep. Bergman, Sen. Slotkin

From: A constituent in Beulah, MI

August 17

I am writing to urge you to support policies that incentivize corporations and commercial entities operating within an area to prioritize local utilities, community telecommunications, and regional service providers. When a business opens in an area that maintains its own community services—such as local internet providers, municipal utilities, or regional vendors—choosing non-local corporate alternatives extracts capital from the local economy. Prioritizing community-based services keeps operational dollars circulating locally, directly funding municipal infrastructure, protecting jobs, and strengthening the local economy that supports those businesses. I urge you to advocate for and introduce legislation or local guidelines that: 1 Promote "Community First" procurement policies for businesses operating within our jurisdiction. 2 Provide tax incentives or recognition for corporations that utilize local utility networks and service providers. 3 Encourage sustainable economic partnerships between commercial entities and local municipal providers. Corporations operating within a community should actively contribute to the economic health and infrastructure of the specific areas in which they do business. Thank you for your time and dedication to our community’s economic vitality.
