I am writing as a constituent to express my strong opposition to President Trump’s recent attempt to execute a "pocket rescission" to unilaterally cancel roughly $810 million in congressionally appropriated federal funding.  Submitting a major rescission package days before the end of the fiscal year is a deliberate attempt to run out the clock and bypass Congress's constitutional authority. Under the Impoundment Control Act of 1974, the executive branch cannot unilaterally withhold funds that Congress has enacted into law without congressional approval. Allowing the administration to sidestep Congress sets a dangerous precedent that undermines the separation of powers and disrespects the legislative process.  I urge you to publicly condemn this executive overreach, defend Congress’s constitutional power of the purse, and demand that the administration fully obligate all funding passed by Congress as required by law.  Thank you for your time and for defending our constitutional balance of powers.
