I'm writing to urge you to filibuster the upcoming Homeland Security appropriations security bill currently scheduled for Jan 30th, with the demand that ICE be shut down permanently. ICE needs to be abolished. It cannot be reformed.
There is nothing to debate. There is no “immigration crisis” warranting the invasion of US cities by paramilitaries kidnapping, killing, and terrorizing families and communities.
Furthermore if this administration continues invading and threatening to invade foreign countries, risking world war 3, that should also trigger a filibuster, and full government shut down.
Lastly, if this administration continues to flaunt the law, and fails to immediately release the unredacted and untampered Epstein files, that must trigger a filibuster — and full government shut down.
Individual members have countless tools at their disposal. They can object to unanimous consent, demand a quorum call, demand a roll-call vote, or employ 99 other options that grind congress to a halt until this chaos is stopped in its tracks and lawbreakers are held accountable.
Abolishing ICE, ending discussions of invading foreign countries, and releasing the Epstein files are extremely reasonable positions supported by a majority of Americans. Anything less is unacceptable.
We are no longer being governed by consent. This dangerous, lawless administration has crossed multiple red lines, and has been funded against our will, for far too long.
Your constituents do not want to hear their representatives summarizing the news. Meaningful, clear action is required. We want you to shut this government down. And call for national strikes and permanent boycotts. Whatever is required to stop this runaway train.
A filibuster to abolish ICE is a bare minimum first step. Thank you.
