Immediate Action Needed: Reinstate the CDC’s Vaccine Advisory Panel Meeting

To: Sen. Slotkin, Sen. Peters, Rep. Huizenga

From: A constituent in Dorr, MI

February 21, 2025

I am writing to urgently request your immediate intervention to reinstate the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) meeting. The indefinite postponement of this critical forum jeopardizes public health, undermines transparency, and delays essential decisions on vaccine safety and effectiveness. The ACIP is a cornerstone of our nation’s public health infrastructure, providing evidence-based recommendations on vaccines that protect millions of Americans from preventable diseases. Its meetings are a vital platform for open, scientific discussion and public engagement. The postponement of this meeting disrupts the timely evaluation of emerging data and risks leaving critical questions about vaccine policies unanswered. This delay is unacceptable. Every day that passes without this forum in place puts public health at risk. The ACIP’s work is essential to maintaining public trust in vaccination programs, addressing vaccine hesitancy, and ensuring that immunization policies are grounded in the best available science. Transparency and accountability must not be sacrificed. I urge you to take immediate action to reinstate the ACIP meeting and ensure that this vital public health process remains accessible, transparent, and operational. The health and safety of our communities cannot wait. Thank you for your urgent attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response and action.
