I am writing to demand immediate action regarding President Trump's increasingly erratic behavior and threats to annex Greenland through potential military force. His recent letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre demonstrates a dangerous detachment from reality that threatens our national security and international standing. In his letter, Trump claimed Norway owed him a Nobel Peace Prize for "having stopped 8 Wars PLUS" and stated "The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland." He baselessly questioned Denmark's sovereignty over Greenland by dismissing centuries of established territorial rights, writing "There are no written documents, it's only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago." This represents a fundamental misunderstanding of international law and diplomatic norms. Senator Brian Schatz of Hawaii captured the gravity of this situation, stating "I don't see how you can be a serious person and not find this extremely worrisome. He is not stable at all and his reality is warped." The President has refused to rule out military action against a NATO ally and has threatened tariffs against European countries that oppose his annexation plans. European nations have responded by deploying troops to Greenland. This crisis demands Congressional action through either impeachment proceedings or support for invoking the 25th Amendment. Trump's behavior has already damaged critical alliances with Denmark, Norway, and other European partners at a time when NATO unity is essential. His threats undermine the very alliance he claims to champion. I urge you to publicly call for Trump's removal from office and to work with colleagues across the aisle who recognize this threat to our democratic institutions and international relationships. History will judge those who remained silent while a president threatened military action against our allies over delusional grievances about a peace prize. Your constituents deserve leadership that prioritizes stability and the rule of law over enabling dangerous behavior.
