Trump’s hateful rhetoric is dangerous for our Democracy!

To: Sen. Grassley, Rep. Feenstra, Pres. Trump, Sen. Ernst

July 4

The President's divisive rhetoric and hateful comments towards his political opponents are deeply concerning and harmful to our democratic norms. Elected leaders should bring people together, not sow further division. The role of the presidency is to serve all Americans, regardless of political affiliation. Demonizing and expressing hatred towards fellow citizens for their beliefs goes against core American values of unity, respect and freedom of speech. We must reject this damaging rhetoric and instead focus on addressing substantive policy issues in a spirit of good faith and civility. Our democracy depends on an engaged citizenry and elected officials who uphold constitutional principles. The President's comments undermine these foundations and weaken our institutions. As Americans, we should demand better from our leaders.
