Libraries are vital community resources that enrich lives and promote learning for all. The recent federal funding cuts to the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) put critical services at risk in Massachusetts. IMLS provides $3.6 million to our state, supporting statewide databases, inter-library loans, ebooks/audiobooks, disaster preparedness, and local grants. Libraries in Massachusetts had 28 million visits last year and provide an impressive $5 return for every $1 invested. We cannot afford to lose these valuable services. I urge you to take action to restore IMLS funding and protect libraries that empower our communities. Libraries are pillars of democracy, and we must safeguard their future.
