Our students deserve sex education that is medically accurate, evidence-based, trauma-informed, and inclusive of every young person — and right now, the law doesn't guarantee that. Only 5 states require comprehensive sex education, and 10 states don't even mandate that instruction be age-appropriate or medically accurate. That's not a gap, it's a failure. Please champion legislation that requires sex education to meet comprehensive standards: evidence-based, trauma-informed, inclusive of LGBTQIA+ students, and inclusive of consent education. Right now, 19 states actively stigmatize LGBTQIA+ youth in sex ed, and only 15 states require any instruction on consent at all. Young people are navigating real health decisions without the information they need to stay safe. Support policies that change that.
