Demand Accountability for Defiance of Court Order in Abrego Garcia Case

To: Rep. Kelly, Sen. Fetterman, Sen. McCormick

From: A verified voter in Cranberry Township, PA

April 16

I am writing to you as a deeply concerned citizen regarding the president’s blatant refusal to comply with a court order to return Mr. Abrego Garcia to the United States. Regardless of Mr. Abrego Garcia’s background or immigration status — whether he is a criminal or whether he is ultimately eligible for deportation — the fundamental issue here is due process. To deny a person their day in court is a direct assault on the Constitution and the values that are supposed to define this country. The administration’s excuse, claiming Mr. Abrego Garcia cannot be returned because he is "no longer under U.S. jurisdiction," is a flat-out insult to the intelligence of the American people. We all know the United States has the power to bring him back if the president orders it. This isn’t about logistics — this is about defiance of the rule of law. This kind of behavior is dangerous and sets a terrifying precedent. If the president can ignore a lawful court order and ship people out of the country without due process, who’s next? Journalists? Political opponents? Everyday citizens? The erosion of constitutional protections for one group is the erosion of rights for all of us. I urge you to hold this president accountable — through investigation, censure, and if necessary, impeachment and conviction. The future of American democracy hinges on elected officials like you standing up against this kind of lawlessness and abuse of power. Please do not let this moment pass without action. Our nation depends on your courage.
