Protect constitutional rights: reject denaturalization

To: Sen. Murray, Rep. Jayapal, Sen. Cantwell

From: A constituent in Seattle, WA

November 28

The recent announcement by the Trump administration to reexamine green cards and potentially denaturalize migrants is a direct threat to the foundational principles of our nation. This policy not only undermines the rights of naturalized citizens but also sets a dangerous precedent that could affect all Americans, including birthright citizens and even members of Congress. The Constitution is clear: citizenship, once granted, cannot be arbitrarily revoked. The 14th Amendment enshrines this right, and any attempt to circumvent it is a grave assault on our democratic values. I urge you to take immediate action to protect the rights of all citizens. Demand that the administration unequivocally retract any statements or policies that threaten to denaturalize citizens. Push for oversight hearings to examine these unconstitutional proposals and their impact on our communities. The principle of citizenship is the bedrock of our democracy. Any erosion of this right threatens not just immigrants, but all Americans. Stand firm against these unconstitutional measures and uphold the values that truly make America great: equality, justice, and the rule of law.
