Protect Medicaid: Oppose devastating Republican budget cuts

To: Sen. King, Sen. Collins, Rep. Pingree

From: A verified voter in South Portland, ME

May 2

The Republican budget resolution could cut Maine's federal Medicaid funding by over $3.6 billion over the next decade, jeopardizing healthcare coverage for 352,000 low-income Mainers who rely on the program. Medicaid covers 40% of Maine's children and 63% of nursing home residents. Severe funding reductions would force the state to slash eligibility, curtail benefits, and reduce payments to hospitals and nursing homes - limiting access to critical services for Maine's most vulnerable citizens. The proposed budget threatens the health and economic security of tens of thousands of Maine families and seniors and must be firmly rejected.
