Reform immigration system, end private prisons' exploitative practices

To: Rep. McGovern, Sen. Warren, Sen. Markey

From: A constituent in Hopkinton, MA

May 9

The private prison industry is profiting immensely from the current administration's aggressive immigration policies and increased deportations, which could also lead to cheaper labor for global corporations as it amounts to modern-day slavery. This exploitative system prioritizes corporate profits over human rights and ethical treatment of immigrants. Rather than enabling private prisons to rake in millions through detaining and deporting people, we should be pursuing comprehensive immigration reform that provides a pathway to citizenship and upholds human dignity. Additionally, using incarcerated labor amounts to modern-day slavery which global corporations benefit from unethically. We need to reject these abusive practices, divest from the private prison industry, and create an immigration system grounded in justice and compassion, not motivated by greed.
