First, I strongly oppose Republicans’ reconciliation bill that gives 70B more to ICE and CBP. In just the last few days we’ve learned about allegations of rampant sexual abuse by CBP officers, over 100,000 family separations of US children from their immigrant parents, and a hunger strike at Adelanto due to inhumane conditions. It goes on and on. These agencies are broken, abusive, and dangerous. Any vote to fund them is a vote for cruelty, lawlessness and brutality. No way.
Second, I know that Senators will have a chance to introduce amendments to the reconciliation bill as part of the vote-a-rama process. I expect the Senator to support an amendment blocking Trump’s 1.8 billion dollar slush fund. I am livid about this. I refuse to give my hard-earned tax dollars to Trump, his cronies, and violent January 6th insurrectionists who attacked our Capitol. Congress needs to block this slush fund and any future efforts to create similar pools of money. We are tired of being robbed. Thanks.
