I am writing to urge you to use every constitutional power available to your office to remove Donald Trump from the presidency. This is not a matter of ordinary political disagreement. The situation has escalated into a constitutional emergency that demands immediate action through resignation, impeachment and removal, or invocation of the Twenty-Fifth Amendment.
The evidence of unfitness is overwhelming. Trump has attempted to coerce allies over Greenland, treated NATO partners' territory as personal property, and exercised war powers as a personal instrument through kidnapping foreign leaders and unauthorized military actions. He has converted pardons and clemency into commerce, making favors purchasable. His tariffs, imposed as personal whims, burden American families and businesses while he blurs the lines between the Treasury and his personal finances.
The Department of Justice has been degraded into a partisan instrument. Trump openly defies law and court orders, demands investigations as public spectacles, and pursues vengeance rather than equal application of law. He has turned federal enforcement inward against American citizens, treating dissent as terrorism and deploying masked agents and coercive tactics that resemble police state methods.
Trump advances the doctrine that Executive power is absolute. He seeks to purge professional public servants and replace them with personal loyalists, assailing inspectors general and overseers. He attempts to render the Presidency a throne rather than an office.
If Trump will not resign, the House must impeach and the Senate must convict. If Congress cannot act swiftly enough, the Vice President and Cabinet must invoke the Twenty-Fifth Amendment to address the evident instability and incapacity that endangers the Republic. I urge you to use the power of the purse if necessary, including shutting down the government until real oversight exists and constitutional guardrails are restored.
The damage will outlive this presidency if we accept this behavior as the new standard. I call on you to choose the Constitution over any individual and act with the courage this moment demands.
