Don’t let the CDC walk away from disabled people

To: Sen. King, Rep. Pingree, Sen. Collins

From: A verified voter in Cumberland Center, ME

October 20

I am writing as your constituent to express urgent concern regarding the CDC considering a proposal to no longer collect data about disabled people's health. the CDC’s proposed survey changes would remove key disability data collection questions.  Over 1 in 4 Americans lives with a disability, because of this they face severe health disparities and barriers to care. Eliminating this data masks these inequities, making it impossible to evaluate health outcomes, target federal resources effectively, or safeguard emergency preparedness for disabled citizens. Without comprehensive data, federal healthcare policy operates in the dark. I urge you to intervene and demand that the CDC protect and maintain robust disability health surveillance in all federal surveys
