Call for diplomacy and human rights in Ukraine conflict

To: Sen. Butler, Sen. Padilla, Pres. Biden, Rep. DeSaulnier

August 11, 2024

The continued occupation and conflict in Palestine have led to a dire humanitarian crisis, with widespread human rights violations, loss of life, displacement of civilians, and demolition of homes and infrastructure. It is crucial that we take urgent action to address this long-standing injustice and facilitate a just and lasting resolution. The international community must unequivocally condemn the persistent violations of Palestinian human rights and disregard for international law. We urge an immediate and permanent ceasefire on all fronts, facilitated by neutral parties, to allow for the safe passage of humanitarian aid and the protection of innocent lives. Furthermore, we call for a comprehensive and impartial investigation into reported human rights abuses, with those responsible held accountable. The path forward must be guided by adherence to international law, respect for human rights, and a commitment to a peaceful, negotiated settlement that upholds the rights and dignity of all.
