Allow Immediate Entry of Mobile Humanitarian Units into Gaza

To: Sen. Husted, Rep. Landsman, Sen. Moreno, Pres. Trump

From: A constituent in Maineville, OH

December 15

We call on the international community, humanitarian organizations, and all authorities with control over access to Gaza to immediately allow the entry of mobile humanitarian units. Baby Rahaf Abu Jazar froze to death after winter rain flooded her family’s tent in Gaza. She was an infant, sleeping on soaked ground, exposed to cold with no insulation, no heating, and no access to emergency medical care. Her death was entirely preventable. Rahaf is not the only child at risk. Across Gaza, families are forced to live in thin, makeshift tents that flood during heavy rain. Infants and children are exposed to hypothermia, respiratory infections, contaminated water, and untreated illness. What should be temporary shelter has become a death trap. This is not a natural disaster. This is a man-made (Israel’s genocidal intent) humanitarian catastrophe. Mobile humanitarian units — including medical vans, mobile clinics, emergency shelters, drainage and sanitation units, and winterized relief vehicles — are available and ready. Yet they are being blocked from entry. These units could immediately: • Provide dry, insulated shelter and heating • Drain flooded areas and prevent tent collapse • Deliver urgent medical care to infants, children, and pregnant women • Prevent deaths from exposure, infection, and untreated conditions Children are not combatants. Babies are not threats. No child should freeze to death in a tent. Every hour of delay increases the risk of further preventable deaths. Denying access to mobile humanitarian assistance violates the most basic principles of international humanitarian law and human morality. We demand: 1. Immediate authorization for mobile humanitarian and medical units to enter Gaza 2. Unrestricted access for emergency shelter, drainage, heating, and sanitation support 3. Protection of civilians, especially infants and children, from exposure and life-threatening conditions Baby Rahaf Abu Jazar should still be alive today. No more children should die from cold, rain, and neglect. Let the mobile units in. Protect the children. Act now.
