Investigate the Trump administration's tariff policies and use every tool available to bring consumer costs down. Voters sent a clear message Tuesday night on prices, and the previous Congress did nothing about it. That failure has consequences.
Consumer prices rose 3.7% over the year through September. A New York Federal Reserve study found Trump's tariffs added roughly 2.9 percentage points to prices across consumer goods, with about a third of that increase hitting U.S.-made products because domestic manufacturers pay more for imported materials. That is families paying more for food, housing, and transportation every single month.
Scott Lincicome of the Cato Institute put it plainly: "When you campaign on lowering prices, and then you actually actively increase prices, it's probably gonna hurt when voters go back to the polls." Voters just proved him right. Hold hearings, demand information, and force votes on unwinding these tariffs. I have been raising this for months and got nothing back. Do the job.
