Stop Unjust Deportations & Protect Law-Abiding Families

I am writing to express my deep concern over the recent deportation of Nelson and Gladys Gonzalez, a couple who lived in the U.S. for 35 years without a criminal record. Their removal is not only a personal tragedy but a stark reminder of our broken immigration system that prioritizes enforcement over fairness and humanity.
The Gonzalezes were not criminals, gang members, or national security threats. They were hardworking, contributing members of their community. So why were they a priority for deportation?
Even more disturbing is how ICE detained them—during a routine check-in, a process they voluntarily complied with. When people follow the system’s requirements and are punished for it, we send a chilling message that undermines trust in our institutions. That’s not justice—that’s cruelty.
I urge you to take action by:
✔ Demanding ICE focus on dangerous individuals, not law-abiding families.
✔ Advocating for immigration reforms that prevent these unnecessary deportations.
✔ Calling on DHS to stop detaining people at check-ins when they pose no threat.
As your constituent, I believe in a fair and humane immigration system that reflects American values of justice and family unity. I hope to see your leadership on this issue and look forward to your response.
