Reverse media restrictions to protect free press democracy

To: Sen. McCormick, Sen. Fetterman, Pres. Trump, Rep. Evans

From: A constituent in Philadelphia, PA

February 25

The administration's decision to restrict media access raises serious concerns about threats to a free press, a fundamental pillar of democracy. Controlling and limiting journalists' ability to report accurately undermines government transparency and public accountability. This disturbing move echoes tactics employed by authoritarian regimes like Nazi Germany under Hitler and Mussolini's Fascist Italy to suppress scrutiny and dissent. Attacks on the free press are a hallmark of fascist dictators like Stalin in the Soviet Union, Mao in China, and Pinochet's military junta in Chile. A robust free press acts as a watchdog against abuse of power and is essential for an informed citizenry. I urge a reversal of this alarming policy that impedes the media's constitutionally protected role.
