The national park system is critically important to preserving America's natural heritage and outdoor recreational opportunities for all. Recent reports of plans to remove experienced staff and leadership from overseeing these treasured public lands are extremely concerning. Our parks face existential threats from climate change, invasive species, overuse, and underfunding that require strong, stable leadership with deep institutional knowledge. Allowing political interference to disrupt effective stewardship of these irreplaceable resources would be a disservice to current and future generations. I urge you to forcefully oppose any attempts at an unqualified political purge within the National Park Service and to uphold the longstanding mission of protecting and providing access to America's best idea. Furthermore, I ask you to oppose Trump's cuts to funding for our national parks, which are not supposed to be for-profit but generate significant economic benefits for the communities around them.
