Trump Must Be Fired!

To: Sen. Paul, Rep. McGarvey, Sen. McConnell, Pres. Biden

From: A constituent in Louisville, KY

May 7

Donald Trump is disqualified from holding any state or federal office according to Section 3 of the 14th Amendment due to his involvement in inciting the January 6th insurrection against the peaceful transition of power. By refusing to accept the legitimate results of the 2020 election and encouraging his supporters to commit violent acts to overturn the will of the voters, Trump violated his oath of office and engaged in insurrection. The Framers specifically included this disqualification in the 14th Amendment to safeguard democracy against threats of violent rebellion and executive tyranny. Trump continues to undermine faith in elections and celebrate the insurrectionists, endorsing future political violence. For the security of our democratic system and electoral process, he must be barred from the presidency to uphold the Constitution. The Supreme Court has an obligation to enforce this critical check on abuse of power. Failure to disqualify Trump would enable the normalization of anti-democratic behavior and place election workers at continued risk of threats and intimidation by his supporters.
