I am your constituent and I am very worried about the proposed age limit increases to SNAP. Increasing the time limit to those who are 64 years old and parents of children over 7 is wrong. Grocery prices and hunger are increasing in the country and these measures would result in older adults and young families going hungry. With the cost of childcare - if it is available at all - being sky-high, it's very likely that parents of young children will not be able to make enough money to offset the loss of benefits. With ageism in the workplace being an issue for older adults, raising the age limit also punishes them unfairly. As older adults take up minimum age jobs out of desperation, there are fewer 'beginner' jobs for young people to gain needed experience, which impacts their job trajectory over time. So the proposed age limit increases hit across the board to make life harder for nearly everyone. Please speak out and vote against any such time/age limits added to SNAP and also any cuts that would impact people’s benefits.
