HR 9495 just passed in the House, which means it's going to the Senate at some point, and I'm asking you to please vote no. The way this bill is written is extremely broad, and hands the president unilateral power to decree any nonprofit a terrorist organization without oversight. Given the current vitriol against the queer community, especially those who identify as trans, if passed it's only a matter of time before it's used to shut down many much-needed organizations helping the LGBT community, especially kids, under the label of domestic terrorism. Planned Parenthood is another much needed organization which stands to lose much by passage of this bill. Please don't hand the executive branch this unlimited power over our nation's countless and necessary nonprofits.
