The Trump administration just falsely declared that the CFPB’s independent funding is illegal, setting the agency on a path to shut down in early 2026. If the CFPB collapses, no one else steps in. There will be no one to investigate predatory lenders, monitor credit card abuses, enforce anti-discrimination laws in banking, or return money stolen by corporate scammers. Congress has the power to intervene right now and make clear that the CFPB must remain funded and operational. Please make every effort to stop Russell Vought’s illegal plan to dismantle the CFPB and protect consumers.
