The 2024 presidential election was marred by widespread voter suppression tactics that disproportionately disenfranchised voters of color. Millions of eligible voters were wrongfully purged from voter rolls, had their ballots rejected on technicalities, or were challenged by vigilante groups seeking to deny them their fundamental right to vote. This systematic assault on democracy calls into question the legitimacy of the reported results. The available data indicates a staggering 4,776,706 voters were improperly removed from registration lists through discriminatory methods like the "poison postcard" purge. An additional 2,121,000 mail-in ballots were disqualified, often due to minor clerical errors, with Black voters 400% more likely to have their ballot rejected than white voters. Provisional ballots, frequently the only option for challenged voters, saw a 42.3% rejection rate, triple the rate for white voters. Self-appointed "vigilante" groups exploited new laws to wrongfully challenge hundreds of thousands of Americans' right to vote. These reprehensible tactics of disenfranchisement represent an unacceptable attack on free and fair elections. Applying conservative estimates, vote suppression cost the Democratic candidate at least 3,565,000 votes and likely tipped key battleground states like Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. This blatant subversion of democracy demands immediate action to protect voting rights and ensure every eligible citizen can freely exercise their constitutional right without facing discriminatory barriers. I urge an immediate non-partisan investigation into the full scope of voter suppression in 2024. Stringent measures must be implemented to prevent these undemocratic practices from tainting future elections. Our democracy was hard-won through immense struggle, and allowing it to be undermined by systemic disenfranchisement is utterly unacceptable. Ensuring the integrity of our elections is vital to preserving America's democratic ideals.
