I am one of your constituents and an author of Journey to the Heart Stone. I’m reaching out asking you to cosponsor H.R.5527, the Stop Censoring Military Families Act.  It’s a bill that Representative Jamie Raskin and Representative Chrissy Houlahan introduced to stop the Department of Defense from pulling nearly 600 books from school library shelves and prevent the Trump Administration from cancelling important courses like AP Psychology and AP African American History. This bill also takes steps to insulate military-connected students from political interference. They shouldn’t be micromanaged by the executive branch.  I’m an author and I oppose book bans because everyone should have the opportunity to read books on all subjects and from different points of view. It is how people develop critical thinking, learn about others and expand their vision of the world.
