Vote No on Confirming Todd Blanche

To: Sen. Hagerty, Rep. Kustoff, Sen. Blackburn

From: A constituent in Brownsville, TN

July 15

Vote no on confirming Todd Blanche. U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams just referred him to the State Bar of New York after finding that the DOJ, under his leadership, abdicated its responsibility to defend the interests of the United States. That is not a partisan attack — that is a federal judge's formal finding, serious enough to warrant bar referral on top of the multiple ethics complaints he already faces with the NY Attorney Grievance Committee. What Blanche's DOJ did was extraordinary in the worst sense. It settled a lawsuit where the president was effectively suing his own administration — controlling both sides — and agreed to a $1.776 billion fund to compensate Trump's allies while permanently shielding Trump, his family, and his businesses from future IRS audits. Judge Williams called it an attempt to use the court to confer immunity and earmark taxpayer billions for grievances "not defined in the law." That is not zealous advocacy for the American people. That is corruption with a legal filing attached. Confirming someone with this record sends a clear message that Congress is fine with the DOJ being weaponized for personal presidential enrichment. I expect you to vote no.
