I am writing to you with deep concern over the recent news that President Biden has authorized Ukraine to use U.S. long-range missiles to strike Russia. This decision, coupled with the continued financial and military support for Ukraine, threatens to escalate tensions with Russia to an irreversible degree—potentially leading to a global conflict that the American people cannot afford or endure. Russian President Vladimir Putin has made it clear that such actions would constitute an act of war by the United States. Engaging in this proxy conflict brings us perilously close to direct war with Russia, a scenario that I do not support and do not believe is in the best interest of our country. Meanwhile, here at home, countless Americans are suffering in the wake of devastating hurricanes in North Carolina, Florida, and Tennessee. Lives have been uprooted, homes destroyed, and communities left to fend for themselves. Our citizens are in desperate need of assistance—yet billions of dollars continue to flow overseas, prioritizing foreign conflicts over our own people. I urge you to immediately cease any further financial or military support for Ukraine and focus instead on addressing the critical needs of the American people. Rebuilding our communities and ensuring our nation’s safety and stability should be your top priorities. We must stop this path toward escalation with Russia before it is too late. I implore you to work toward de-escalating tensions, promoting diplomatic solutions, and redirecting resources to the urgent needs of Americans here at home. Please know that I, along with many others in your constituency, will not support or vote for any elected official who endorses this reckless policy. It is time to put America first.
