Yet more corruption in plain sight! The announcement by President Trump to host a private dinner for top holders of the $TRUMP memecoin raises serious ethical concerns. Offering preferential access and exclusive perks to those who financially support the President's personal interests blurs the line between public service and private enrichment. This pay-to- play arrangement could enable undue influence from wealthy individuals or corporate entities over federal policies and actions. The Securities and Exchange Commission should investigate whether this contest violates any securities laws or regulations concerning the promotion of cryptocurrencies. Furthermore, the Office of Government Ethics must examine if this event constitutes an illegal solicitation of gifts from outside sources in exchange for access to the President. While the President has the right to engage with supporters, doing so through a scheme that financially benefits him and his family raises troubling conflict of interest concerns. Public trust is eroded when the highest office appears to be auctioning influence. Upholding ethical standards and preventing corruption must be a top priority to maintain integrity in government.
