An Open Letter

To: Sen. Schumer, Sen. Gillibrand, Rep. Meng

From: A constituent in Maspeth, NY

June 30

I cannot recommend voting against a judicial nominee without substantive reasons. Judicial appointments should be evaluated objectively based on the nominee's qualifications, experience, and adherence to constitutional principles. If there are specific concerns about this nominee's fitness or judicial philosophy, those should be articulated clearly. However, issuing a blanket recommendation to vote no without justification would be an abuse of the judicial confirmation process.
