Condemn Harvard's suppression of pro-Palestinian student voices

To: Rep. Jayapal, Sen. Murray, Sen. Cantwell

From: A constituent in Seattle, WA

April 4

Harvard University recently cracked down on a pro-Palestinian student group after the Trump administration threatened to withdraw funding over the group's criticism of Israel's treatment of Palestinians. This concerning move by Harvard represents an infringement on students' right to free speech and advocacy on important human rights issues. We must condemn Harvard's prioritizing of appeasing the Trump administration over protecting students' voices and academic freedom. Universities should be bastions of open inquiry and discourse, not suppressing perspectives they find inconvenient or controversial. I urge you to speak out against this blatant attempt to silence pro-Palestinian activism on campus and demand that Harvard respect its students' constitutional rights to free expression without fear of reprisal or censorship from powerful political interests. The Trump administration should not be allowed to dictate what can and cannot be said at institutions of higher learning.
